MONTREAL -- Alex Galchenyuk scored his second goal of the game 1:59 into overtime to give the Montreal Canadiens a 4-3 win over the Dallas Stars on Tuesday night at the Bell Centre.

Max Pacioretty, Alex Galchenyuk and Philip Danault scored in regulation for Montreal (31-30-6). Cody Eakin, Jason Spezza and Ales Hemsky replied for the Stars (40-20-8).

Ben Scrivens stopped 30 shots for the Canadiens while Kari Lehtonen made 24 saves for Dallas.

Eakin opened the scoring three minutes into the first period on the Stars' first shot on goal, when he tipped Jason Demers' shot from the corner past Scrivens. It snapped a 10-game goal drought for Eakins, recording his first goal since Feb. 15.

Pacioretty tied it up at 14:20. Galchenyuk picked up the puck off the faceoff and from the bottom of the right circle, sent a cross-ice feed. Markov picked it up at the top of the left circle and his shot deflected in off Pacioretty's skate.

The Stars regained the lead on the power play, just 17 seconds into the second period. With Pacioretty in the box, Spezza fired a blast from the right circle, extending his goal streak to four games.

The lead was short-lived, however. Sven Andrighetto won a battle behind the net against the 6-foot-7 defenseman Jami Oleksiak and sent the puck through a Stars player's legs out to Galchenyuk in front 36 seconds later. The Canadiens' center made no mistake in potting his 22nd of the season, and fourth multi-point game in the last seven contests.

Montreal took its first lead of the night courtesy of Danault at 3:37. Greg Pateryn blasted a shot from the blue line that grazed the top of Lehtonen's glove before hitting the end boards. Danault, at the side of the net poked it home into a small opening for his first in a Canadiens uniform and second on the season.

Dallas brought the score back to square one with one minute left in the period. After picking up a neutral zone turnover, Hemsky carried the puck in before dishing off to Eakin, who fed it back. Hemsky turned it into a wraparound on Scrivens, who couldn't get his leg over to make the save.

Demers left the game in the second period with an upper-body injury and did not return.
