Rangers 2, Oilers 0: Henrik Lundqvist grabbed a share of the league lead by posting his fifth shutout and defenseman Dan Girardi scored a fluke goal as visiting New York recorded its second win in two nights.

Carl Hagelin added an empty-net tally for the Rangers, who have allowed one goal over the first two contests of their four-game road trip. Rick Nash extended his point streak to a career-high 10 games with an assist and Lundqvist made 16 saves to pull even with Pittsburgh's Marc-Andre Fleury for first in the NHL in shutouts.

Ben Scrivens turned aside 20 shots for the Oilers, who have lost four straight contests and 15 of their last 16. Taylor Hall registered a team-high three shots but saw his goal-scoring drought reach nine games as Edmonton went 0-for-2 on the power play.

A fortunate carom late in the first period gave New York the only goal it needed. Nash dished the puck from behind the net to Girardi, whose pass attempt from the bottom of the right faceoff circle to Mats Zuccarello in front deflected off the skate of Edmonton's Mark Arcobello and past Scrivens at 16:04 for a 1-0 lead.

Lundqvist made it stand, turning aside five shots in each of the first two periods before stopping six in the third for his 55th career blanking. The Rangers squandered a chance to create breathing room as they were unable to cash in on a power-play opportunity with just under five minutes remaining in the session, but Hagelin sealed the victory by scoring into an empty net with 21.3 seconds left.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Rangers C Derick Brassard missed the contest as he became the second player on the team - and 14th in the NHL - to come down with the mumps this season. New York RW Tanner Glass was diagnosed with the viral disease in November. ... Nash has notched at least one point in 23 of his 28 games this season. ... New York did not record its first shot of the third period until the 11:06 mark.
