Canucks 5, Oilers 4: Defenseman Yannick Weber's first goal of the season snapped a third-period tie and lifted visiting Vancouver to its fourth victory over Edmonton.

Radim Vrbata netted a pair of power-play goals, Jannik Hansen added a short-handed tally and Chris Higgins also scored as the Canucks won for the ninth time in 12 games. Daniel Sedin collected three assists and twin brother Henrik had a pair to back Ryan Miller (28 saves), who improved to 11-0-0 lifetime against the Oilers.

Steven Pinizzotto notched his first career goal, captain Andrew Ference netted his first of the season and Teddy Purcell and Boyd Gordon scored 11 seconds apart for Edmonton, which lost its fourth in a row and remained winless in 10 games (0-9-1) against Western Conference foes. Ben Scrivens turned aside 26 shots in falling to 0-5-1 in his last six starts.

Vrbata ignited a six-goal spree in the second period with a one-timer off a faceoff for a 2-0 edge and capped it with a bullet from the top of the left circle with 2:50 left in the session for a 4-3 edge. Pinizzotto's first career tally was answered by Higgins' wrist shot 9 1/2 minutes later before the Oilers struck twice in short order on a straight-on blast from Purcell and Gordon's seemingly harmless wrist shot from the left circle that Miller let through his legs.

After Edmonton failed to convert on a 5-on-3 early in the third, Ference got the equalizer at 6:21, ripping a slap shot from the left point to the far corner. The Canucks responded five minutes later as Daniel Sedin slid a perfect pass to a cutting Weber, who flicked it over Scrivens' left arm on the doorstep with 8:28 remaining. The Oilers had an apparent tying goal waved off in the final seconds when it was ruled David Perron used a distinct kicking motion to pot the puck.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Hansen had the only tally of the opening period with a short-handed breakaway, beating Scrivens high to the glove side at 15:41. ... Pinizzotto, who played his first 12 career games with Vancouver in 2012-13, was called up from Oklahoma City of the American Hockey League on Tuesday. He wasted no time making his presence felt, squaring off with Canucks F Derek Dorsett 2:27 into the contest. ... Oilers F Taylor Hall picked up an assist on Ference's tally to extend his point streak to six games.
