Redskins 20, Cowboys 17 (OT): Kai Forbath kicked a 40-yard field goal on the first possession of overtime and Washington's defense made it stand up to snap host Dallas' six-game winning streak.
Colt McCoy, making his first start since December 2011, threw for 299 yards with an interception and ran for a touchdown to lift the Redskins (3-5) to their second straight win following a four-game skid. Alfred Morris rushed for 73 yards and a score while DeSean Jackson made six catches for 136 yards as Washington beat the Cowboys (6-2) for the fourth time in 11 meetings.
Tony Romo threw for 209 yards and a touchdown before he was injured midway through the third quarter, only to return for the final two minutes of regulation and overtime. DeMarco Murray rushed for 141 yards to go along with 80 receiving while Jason Witten and Dez Bryant had scoring receptions for Dallas, which was unable to get a first down on its only possession of OT.
Trailing 7-3, the Redskins opened the second half with an 80-yard drive by riding the legs of Morris, who scored from 5 yards out. After Romo was hurt on the ensuing possession, Murray broke loose for a 51-yard run to set up Dan Bailey's 21-yard field goal, but McCoy connected with Jackson on a 45-yard pass to set up his own 7-yard run on a quarterback draw for a 17-10 advantage with 13:38 to play.
Backup quarterback Brandon Weeden drove the Cowboys 80 yards in eight plays for the tying score, finding Witten alone on the right side for a 25-yard completion with 9:17 remaining. Romo, who suffered a back contusion and will be re-evaluated Tuesday, re-entered with 1:52 left in regulation and survived a fumble and near interception before the game went to overtime.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Romo was injured midway through the third quarter, when he turned and took a blow to his surgically repaired back on a blitz by Redskins LB Keenan Robinson. ... Morris recorded his 24th career rushing touchdown, moving past Cliff Battles for sole possession of eighth place on the franchise list. ... Murray's 51-yard scamper in the third quarter put him over 1,000 yards, making him the eighth player in NFL history to reach the milestone in the first eight games of the season. He is the only player to open a campaign with eight straight 100-yard performances.
