NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A barrage of 3-pointers from Vanderbilt forward Joe Toye helped the Commodores break open a close game and blow out Texas A&M 66-41 in the Southeastern Conference tournament at Bridgestone Arena on Thursday night.

Toye scored a career-high 18 points, and guards Riley LaChance and Nolan Cressler added 14 and 11, respectively, for the Commodores.

Vanderbilt (18-14) advance to the quarterfinals to play No. 17 Florida, an opponent the Commodores have beaten twice.

Center Tyler Davis led the Aggies (16-15) with 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Admon Gilder added 11 points, and Robert Williams had nine points and 10 boards.

The Commodores shot just 39.7 percent from the floor but held the Aggies to 33.3 percent shooting.

The first half was an offensive disaster for both teams, but Toye hit five 3-pointers in the first 9:53 of the second half to break the game open. The lead went to 20 when guard Payton Willis hit a long jumper at 9:02, and never went under that mark again.

LaChance hit the game's first shot, but then the Commodores went through a scoring drought that lasted 6:38 until LaChance hit a 3-pointer at exactly the 13-minute mark.

Still, Vanderbilt held a 6-4 lead at that point, thanks to A&M's five turnovers in that span against the Commodores' effective man-to-man defense. The Aggies went 10:18 without a point at one stretch, and they finally tied the game on nine at 7:44 on a dunk by Williams.

Vanderbilt led 23-20 at half, after LaChance came around a screen from center Luke Kornet and hit a 3-pointer from straight away with three seconds left.

The Aggies had 10 turnovers to Vanderbilt's one in the first half but kept it close due to a 24-13 edge on the glass. Texas A&M's length gave Vanderbilt problems early, but Toye's second-half threes opened room for the Commodores to get into the lane.

Texas A&M finished with a 36-34 rebounding advantage. The Aggies gave the ball away 14 times to just six turnovers for the Commodores.
