Utah 72, College of Idaho 38: Freshman Jordan Loveridge posted his third double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds as the host Utes cruised past the Coyotes.
Leading scorer Jarred DuBois had an off-game with just seven points but added six rebounds, eight assists and three steals while Brandon Taylor drained all four of his 3-point attempts en route to scoring 14 points for Utah (8-4), which held College of Idaho – a NAIA Division II school – to 23.4 percent shooting from the field.
Sydney Donaldson had 10 points and was the only player to finish in double figures for the Coyotes (7-9).
The Utes scored the first five points of the game and never trailed, but did not begin to pull away until midway through the first half when Taylor scored eight points during a 14-0 run that gave Utah a 30-12 advantage.
The College of Idaho could get no closer than 14 points the rest of the way as the Utes continued to build their lead throughout the remainder of the contest.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Utah surrendered its fewest points in a game since a 57-36 victory over Air Force on Jan. 4, 2009. … The College of Idaho shot no better than 23 percent in either half and became the first Utes opponent since 2003 to not score more than 20 points in either half. … The Utes finished 7-of-14 from the 3-point line and improved to 8-0 in games in which they attempt less than 20 shots from beyond the arc.
