Seton Hall 60, Stony Brook 59: Brian Oliver scored a season-high 20 points off the bench as the host Pirates edged the Seawolves for the second time in less than a year.
Eugene Teague contributed 14 points while Brandon Mobley added 12 points and 10 rebounds for Seton Hall (11-2), which also won in dramatic fashion over Stony Brook (8-4) in the first round of the NIT n March.
The Seawolves held the lead for much of the first half, but four straight 3-pointers from Oliver over a 2:37 stretch turned a four-point deficit into a 35-29 advantage for the Pirates.
Mobley stretched the margin to as many as nine points early in the second half, but Dave Coley scored six straight points to spark a 22-8 run that left Stony Brook ahead 53-48. Seton Hall answered with 10 of the next 12 points and took the lead for good at 58-55 on a 3-pointer by Mobley, then withstood two potential game-winning shots from the Seawolves over the final 53 seconds.
Coley matched a career high with 21 points for Stony Brook.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Mobley’s double-double was his fourth of the season and career. … Seton Hall shot 9-of-26 from the 3-point line and has connected on 40 of its 97 attempts over the past four games. … Freshman forward Jameel Warney entered the game leading the American East Conference in field goal percentage, but shot just 2-for-10 from the field and matched his career low with five points.
