Hawks 115, Trail Blazers 107: Paul Millsap scored 27 points as Atlanta beat Portland for its sixth consecutive road victory.
Jeff Teague added 22 points and six assists and Kyle Korver finished with 14 points on 4-for-9 shooting from 3-point range for the Hawks, who put all five starters in double figures. Thabo Sefolosha added season highs of 13 points and 12 rebounds for his first double-double since November 2010.
LaMarcus Aldridge had 30 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Trail Blazers, who fell to 16-2 against the Eastern Conference this season. Wesley Matthews added 19 points and Nicolas Batum and Damian Lillard contributed 16 points apiece for Portland.
The Hawks used a 10-0 run early in the second half to move ahead by 11 and they eventually stretched the advantage to 20 with 3:17 left in the third quarter. The Trail Blazers didn’t fade, scoring the final nine points of the third to pull within eight and using a 10-0 burst to pull them within five with 1:57 on the clock, but that was as close as they’d get.
Portland scored the game’s first eight points but a 13-0 run by Atlanta erased the early advantage and the Hawks extended the lead to nine by scoring the final five points of the opening quarter. The Trail Blazers narrowed the gap to three at the half and Batum scored on the first possession of the third quarter to pull Portland within a point.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Matthews, who came in leading the NBA with 101 3-pointers and shooting 26-for-52 from deep over the previous five games, finished 4-for-11 from beyond the arc. … This is the latest in the season Atlanta has held first place in its division since winning the conference in 1993-94. …. The Hawks have won seven straight against Western Conference teams for the first time since a 10-game streak over two seasons in 1997.
