Timberwolves 110, Suns 101: Kevin Love totaled 33 points, 13 rebounds, nine assists and two blocks as visiting Minnesota used a big fourth quarter to get past Phoenix.
Shabazz Muhammad scored a career-high 20 points and grabbed six rebounds for the Timberwolves, who have won four out of their last five games. Corey Brewer notched 18 points, Dante Cunningham contributed 12 along with five rebounds and Ricky Rubio recorded 11 assists.
Markieff Morris' 24 points led the Suns, who fell for the second straight game following a three-game winning streak. Gerald Green had 19 points, Goran Dragic recorded 16 and P.J. Tucker collected a career-best 16 rebounds for Phoenix, which blew an eight-point fourth quarter lead one game after surrendering an 11-point advantage in the final frame in a loss to Houston on Sunday.
After the Timberwolves took a 66-64 lead on a 3-pointer from Love just under five minutes into the third quarter, Phoenix closed the stanza on a 17-9 run, led by five points from Markieff Morris, who highlighted the surge by finishing an alley-oop from his brother Marcus. In the final frame, Minnesota used nine unanswered points, capped by a jumper from Brewer, to pull ahead 92-91 with 5:11 remaining and after the Suns answered with four straight points from Dragic, the Timberwolves closed out the game on an 18-6 run to seal the win.
Minnesota rode 14 points from Love and another eight from Cunningham in the opening frame to take an early 34-28 lead. The Suns roared ahead in the second quarter, outscoring the Timberwolves 29-21, led by a combined 13 points from the Morris brothers in the frame for a 57-55 halftime advantage.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Timberwolves won in Phoenix for just the third time in the last eight meetings. ... Suns G Archie Goodwin (10 points) reached double figures for the first time since scoring a career-high 16 points Nov. 19 in a 107-104 loss at Sacramento. ... Minnesota G Kevin Martin (thumb) missed his seventh straight game but is hoping to return during the current road trip, which ends Monday in Denver, while C Nikola Pekovic (ankle) sat out for the 13th straight outing.
