Trail Blazers 110, Nuggets 105: LaMarcus Aldridge scored a career-high 44 points and also contributed 13 rebounds and five assists as host Portland defeated Denver.

Aldridge scored the Trail Blazers’ final 15 points, including two free throws with 43.2 seconds to put Portland ahead to stay. Wesley Matthews added 24 points and Nicolas Batum recorded 10 assists for the Trail Blazers, who avoided their first three-game losing streak of the season.

Wilson Chandler scored 18 points and Randy Foye made four 3-pointers while adding 14 points for the Nuggets, who tallied just 14 final-quarter points while losing for the fourth time in five games. Ty Lawson had 13 points and 11 assists and Nate Robinson also scored 13 points for Denver, which committed 22 turnovers.

Portland recovered from a 15-point third-quarter deficit and overtook the Nuggets on a basket by Matthews early in the fourth quarter. Denver inched ahead at 105-104 on Foye’s driving basket with one minute remaining before Aldridge made six straight free throws while the Nuggets were missing their final four shots.

Denver shot 58.5 percent in the first half while taking a 67-59 lead into the break. The Nuggets increased the lead to 78-63 on Foye’s 3-pointer early in the third quarter before Portland rallied to trail by 91-86 entering the final stanza.
