Warriors 101, Hawks 100: Andre Iguodala buried a 3-pointer as time expired to complete a 15-point fourth-quarter comeback as visiting Golden State stunned Atlanta to record its eighth straight win.
The Warriors have two of the best 3-point shooters in the league in Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson but Iguodala got the final chance, taking a feed from Curry and knocking it down from the left wing as time expired. Curry finished with 22 points, nine assists, eight rebounds and five steals while David Lee scored 23 points and Thompson added 21 for Golden State.
Rookie Pero Antic hit a season-high four 3-pointers en route a season-high 16 points but the Hawks squandered a 15-point lead with under seven minutes to play. Shelvin Mack scored 15 points, Jeff Teague added 14 points and seven assists and Paul Millsap collected 12 points and 11 rebounds for Atlanta.
The Hawks took an eight-point lead into the fourth quarter and pushed it out to 91-76 on Antic’s 3-pointer with 6:48 to play. The Warriors responded with an 11-2 burst, capped by Curry’s 3-pointer, to close to within 93-87 with 5:05 left.
Mack hit two free throws to spread it back out to an eight-point lead but Golden State scored the next nine points, grabbing a 96-95 lead on Curry’s basket with 2:12 remaining. Millsap put Atlanta ahead with a pair of free throws and ended a field-goal drought of over five minutes with a basket before Teague’s free throw made it a 100-96 lead with 32 seconds left.
Iguodala found Curry for a basket with 29 seconds on the clock and grabbed the rebound at the other end before the Warriors called timeout and drew up the final play. Iguodala finished with seven points and five assists after the final play was upheld upon review.
It went back and fourth in the first half, with the lead changing nine times before going into the break knotted at 46. The Hawks used a 10-2 run in the third quarter to take a 62-56 lead and got back-to-back baskets from Mack to spread it to 72-64 heading into the fourth.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Warriors improved to 4-0 on their seven-game road trip. … Curry committed nine of Golden State’s 21 turnovers. … Antic added a season-high seven rebounds but Atlanta was beaten on the boards 47-41.
