Warriors 108, Rockets 78: Stephen Curry collected 29 points and 11 assists and Klay Thomspn hit six 3-pointers en route to 26 points as visiting Golden State finally solved Houston.

Andrew Bogut matched season highs with 12 points and 12 rebounds and David Lee chipped in 10 and 10 for the Warriors, who had lost the first three meetings with the Rockets and were blown out 140-109 in their last trip to Houston. Golden State moved 1 1/2 games up on the Rockets for the No. 6 spot in the Western Conference.

James Harden recorded 21 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists and Jeremy Lin scored 21 as Houston fell to 5-3 in March.

The Warriors put on a stunning defensive display in the first quarter, holding the Rockets without a field goal over the final 7:32 to take an 18-10 lead after the period. Greg Smith ended Houston’s field-goal drought on the opening possession of the second quarter, but the Rockets ended up shooting 19.6 percent in the first half.

Houston did not make a field goal in the final four minutes of the second quarter, and Golden State took advantage with an 18-4 burst that made it a 54-31 lead at the break.

The Rockets nearly matched their first-half point total in the third quarter, beginning the period with a 26-8 burst that chopped the deficit to 62-57. But Thompson and Curry combined to score 11 points over the next few minutes to push it back to a 75-60 lead heading into the fourth.

Houston got within 79-69 with 8:19 left but Thompson hit a pair of 3-pointers during an 8-0 burst and the Warriors were not threatened the rest of the way.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Bogut’s double-double was his first of the season. Lee’s was his league-leading 44th. … Curry, who had a streak of 53 games with at least one 3-pointer come to an end on Friday, went 5-of-11 from beyond the arc. … Houston’s starting forwards, Donatas Motiejunas and Chandler Parsons, combined to go 4-of-24 from the field and the Rockets finished at 32.6 percent. … Houston entered leading the league in scoring average at 106.9 points. The 78 points marked a season low.
