Rockets 94, Warriors 88: Chandler Parsons scored 26 points and James Harden overcame a poor shooting night as visiting Houston held off Golden State.

Harden went 3-for-17 from the field but hit 11 of 14 free throw attempts and had 20 points and 11 assists for the Rockets. Omer Asik pulled down 17 rebounds and Jeremy Lin scored 15 points as Houston pulled within a game of the Warriors for the No. 6 spot in the Western Conference and clinched the head-to-head tiebreaker between the teams.

Stephen Curry collected 24 points and eight assists and Klay Thompson scored 22 for Golden State, which had its four-game home winning streak come to an end.

The Warriors tied it at 86 with 3:49 left but made only one field goal the rest of the way. The Rockets did not make any shots in the final 4:42, but Harden and Lin combined to make eight free throws over the final 3 1/2 minutes to secure the win.

Golden State closed the first quarter with a 14-4 burst to take a 30-21 lead and stretched it to 41-28 after Curry’s basket with 6:39 left in the first half. Houston woke up from there and closed the second quarter with a 22-7 burst to take a 50-48 lead into the break.

The runs continued in the third quarter, this time with the Rockets striking first and building up a seven-point edge before center Andrew Bogut buried a rare 3-pointer for the Warriors to spark an 11-0 run. Consecutive baskets by Jarrett Jack gave Golden State a 76-73 lead heading into the fourth.

The Warriors went the first 5:47 of the final period without a point as Houston jumped ahead again 82-76. Curry snapped the drought with a 3-pointer and Thompson hit another 72 seconds later to keep Golden State within striking distance.
