Jazz 117, Lakers 110: Paul Millsap had 24 points and nine rebounds and Mo Williams added 22 points and nine assists as visiting Utah furthered Los Angeles’ season-long misery.
Al Jefferson had 14 points and 11 rebounds while Gordon Hayward and Enes Kanter also scored 14 apiece as the Jazz notched their third straight victory and improved to 4-9 on the road.
Kobe Bryant scored 34 points, Jordan Hill tallied 17 and Jodie Meeks added 16 for the Lakers, who lost for the seventh time in 10 games and dropped to 9-12. Dwight Howard grabbed 16 rebounds and Los Angeles was 15-of-28 from 3-point range but never led over the final 33 minutes.
The Jazz had an 88-85 edge entering the final quarter and later extended the lead to 15 with a 14-2 run. Millsap’s basket ended the surge to give Utah a 108-93 advantage with 5:35 remaining.
The Jazz rolled off 11 straight points in the second quarter to take a 12-point lead. Utah shot 55.3 percent in the half and led 60-51 at the break.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The victory was only Utah’s sixth in 26 regular-season games at Staples Center. … Los Angeles F Pau Gasol (knee tendinitis) missed his fourth consecutive game. … Jefferson was back in the lineup after missing a game due to back spasms.
