The Minnesota Timberwolves overcame a 42-point performance from Anthony Morrow to take a 108-105 victory over the New Jersey Nets at the Prudential Center on Friday.
Minnesota (11-12) has won three straight road games for the first time since April 2009. New Jersey (8-16) has dropped three of its last four outings and fell to 3-7 at home.
Luke Ridnour buried a deep corner 3-pointer than knocked down two free throws to cap a 7-0 run, giving Minnesota the lead in the final minute of play. Ridnour would hit two more freebies to ice the game for the Timberwolves in the closing seconds.
Morrow put on one of the most impressive shooting performance of the season, draining a career-high eight 3-pointers and finishing 13 of 20 from the field. Morrow produced a rare four-point play with 22 seconds left in the game to pull the Nets to within one point.
Nikola Pekovic took advantage of a thin New Jersey frontcourt, scoring a career-high 27 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. His efforts were part of a 57-point performance from the Timberwolves’ bench
All-Star forward Kevin Love added 20 points and 10 boards while rookie point guard Ricky Rubio continued his maturation, going to toe-to-toe with Nets veteran guard Deron Williams. Rubio finished with 10 points and 10 assists while Williams countered with 12 points and 14 helpers.
Jordan Farmar and Kris Humphries both had 14 points for the Nets.
