Kevin Martin scored 27 points and hit six 3-pointers to lead the Houston Rockets to a 95-84 victory over the visiting Atlanta Hawks on Saturday.
Luis Scola had 21 points, Chase Budinger added 17 points and Kyle Lowry matched a career-high with 18 assists for Houston (2-2), which played for the third straight night.
Joe Johnson and Al Horford scored 15 points apiece for Atlanta, which suffered its first loss of the season.
The Rockets led by 14 points early in the final quarter but Atlanta went on an 11-3 run to pull within 79-73 on Tracy McGrady’s basket with 5:20 left.
Jordan Hill scored on a layup and Budinger hit a 3-point basket as Houston regained control en route to improving to 12-1 in its last 13 home games against the Hawks.
Hill had a career-best 15 rebounds for the Rockets, who never trailed and led by as many as 12 points in the first quarter. The Rockets led 51-44 at halftime.
McGrady added 13 points and Josh Smith tallied 12 for the Hawks.
