Grant Hill scored a season-high 30 points and Robin Lopez added 19 as the shorthanded Phoenix Suns denied the Oklahoma City Thunder a perfect homestand with a 113-110 victory Sunday at the Ford Center.
Hill shot 12-of-14 from the line and added 11 rebounds as the Suns played without newcomers Vince Carter, Mickael Pietrus and Marcin Gortat, who were all acquired in a trade with the Orlando Magic on Saturday for Jason Richardson, Hedo Turkoglu and Earl Clark.
Steve Nash returned after missing all but five minutes of Friday’s game with the Dallas Mavericks and added 20 points and 10 assists as Phoenix ended Oklahoma City’s five-game winning streak.
Phoenix successfully shut down the highest-scoring duo in the NBA in Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.
Durant shot 8-of-19 for 28 points while Westbrook was 5-of-17 for 19 points.
Last season, Durant averaged 36.3 points on 54 percent shooting and drained 7-of-12 3-pointers as the Thunder took two of three against the Suns.
