Giants 7, Brewers 4: Pablo Sandoval homered while recording his third consecutive three-RBI performance and Michael Morse also drove in three runs as visiting San Francisco defeated Milwaukee.

Ryan Vogelsong tossed six strong innings and Joe Panik went 3-for-5 with an RBI for the Giants, who remained 2 1/2 games behind the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West. Jean Segura collected three hits for the Brewers, who maintained their one-game lead over the St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Central.

Vogelsong (7-8) allowed one run and seven hits en route to his second consecutive win. Jeremy Affeldt and Sergio Romo each pitched a scoreless inning of relief and Santiago Casilla allowed a homer by Khris Davis in the ninth before retiring the side to end the 3-hour, 53-minute contest.

San Francisco struck for three runs in the first against Yovani Gallardo (6-6) as Sandoval delivered an RBI single and Morse drilled a two-run base hit to center. Milwaukee got on the board in the bottom of the inning, when Carlos Gomez hit a leadoff homer.

The Giants made it 4-1 in the fourth as Morse singled home Buster Posey. All-Star Aramis Ramirez laced a two-run single in the seventh to pull the Brewers within one before Panik recorded an RBI base hit in the eighth and Sandoval socked a two-run shot later in the inning to make it a four-run advantage.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Gallardo allowed four runs and nine hits in four innings, failing to register a win for the seventh time in eight starts. … Giants CF Angel Pagan (back) arrived in Milwaukee late Wednesday night and is expected to be activated prior to Thursday’s series finale. … Davis (elbow) missed his second straight start before entering the game as a pinch-hitter in the seventh.
