Mariners 10, Astros 4: Robinson Cano hit a three-run homer and Taijuan Walker pitched six innings in his first big-league outing of the season as Seattle defeated host Houston in the opener of a three-game series.

Michael Saunders and Mike Zunino belted two-run shots and Brad Miller added a solo blast for the Mariners. James Jones had a career-best four hits, stole three bases and scored twice as Seattle won for the 11th time in 15 contests and moved a season-best seven games above. 500.

George Springer launched a two-run homer and Marwin Gonzalez added a solo shot for the Astros’ runs against Walker (1-0). The right-hander allowed three runs and five hits in six innings while counterpart Collin McHugh (4-7) yielded five runs and five hits in six frames.

Houston second baseman Jose Altuve went 0-for-3 with one stolen base to end his streak of stealing multiple bases at four games, which matched the record previously shared by the New York Giants’ Bill Dahlen (1904) and Cleveland’s Ray Chapman (1917).
