Felipe Lopez's two-out homer in the 11th inning gave the St. Louis Cardinals a 4-3 win over the Chicago Cubs on Sunday night.

Lopez homered to right on a 3-2 pitch from Brian Schlitter (0-1) to snap the Cardinals' three-game losing streak.

Ryan Franklin (5-1) pitched two innings for the win. Dennys Reyes struck out Kosuke Fukudome with a runner on second for his first save as St. Louis avoided a three-game sweep.

Both teams squandered chances in the 10th. The Cardinals loaded the bases with one out, but Yadier Molina hit into a double play. The Cubs loaded the bases with two outs, but Marlon Byrd struck out.

Neither starting pitcher was involved in the decision. Chris Carpenter allowed three runs and nine hits in seven innings. Ryan Dempster also worked seven innings, giving up three runs and nine hits.

The Cardinals jumped ahead in the second on RBI singles by Skip Schumaker, who was 4-for-4, and Brendan Ryan.

Byrd had an RBI single in the fourth. Ryan Theriot tied the game in the fifth with a run-scoring triple and scored on Starlin Castro's single, giving the Cubs a 3-2 lead.

Albert Pujols hit a home run in the sixth to tie the game.
