Milan Lucic notched an assist to extend his point streak to three games and Tuukka Rask (21 saves) recorded his 30th victory for the Bruins, who presented Claude Julien with his 300th win as the team's coach.

Phoenix captain Shane Doan became the 10th player in NHL history to reach 1,300 games played with the same franchise. Doan notched an assist on Lauri Korpikoski's goal in the third period, but the Coyotes failed to net the equalizer and remained one point behind idle Dallas for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Boston native Keith Yandle's blind pass was intercepted by Chara, who skated in and wristed a shot from the upper edge of the right circle past Mike Smith (18 saves) at 5:54 of the first period. Iginla gave the Bruins a 2-0 edge with 2:29 remaining in the session by deflecting defenseman Johnny Boychuk's shot from the point past Smith.

Korpikoski trimmed the deficit 8:14 into the third period by tipping defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson's blast from the point past Rask. The Finnish Olympian held the fort from there and received some help from the post on Antoine Vermette's point-blank chance with under four minutes to play.
