Blues 1, Predators 0: Brian Elliott made 15 saves en route to his second consecutive shutout and Alex Steen scored the lone goal as visiting St. Louis extended its winning streak to a season-high five games.
Vladimir Sobotka and David Perron each recorded an assist for the Blues, who moved within one point of fifth-place San Jose in the Western Conference. Elliott, who spent most of last month as a healthy scratch, stopped 28 shots against the Red Wings on Sunday and has not allowed a goal in 124 minutes, 31 seconds.
The shutout was the 20th in the career for Elliott, who celebrated his 28th birthday on Tuesday. The Predators have not scored at Bridgestone Arena since the second period of a 3-1 loss to Columbus on Thursday - a span of 147:46.
Nashville managed only four shots in the final 20 minutes as it was shut out for the eighth time. Pekka Rinne made 25 saves for the Predators, who remained five points out of a playoff spot.
Steen carried the puck into the offensive zone along the left-wing boards before cutting to the edge of the faceoff circle and slapping a shot past Rinne’s left pad. The goal - Steen’s first in eight games - was all the offense Elliott and the Blues’ stifling defense would need.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Nashville D Roman Josi finished with a game-high seven blocked shots. ... St. Louis won three of four games in its season series against Central Division-rival Nashville. ... The Predators fell to 3-8-3 against divisional opponents.
