Penguins 3, Senators 1: Dustin Jeffrey recorded a goal and an assist while Brenden Morrow set up two scores as visiting Pittsburgh extended its winning streak to seven games and earned coach Dan Bylsma his 200th victory.
Jarome Iginla and Tyler Kennedy also scored for the Penguins, who pulled within three points of Chicago in the race for the Presidents' Trophy. Tomas Vokoun made 34 saves to record his 300th career win in his 700th NHL game.
Defenseman Patrick Wiercioch netted the lone goal and Craig Anderson stopped 21 shots for the Senators, who fell to eighth place in the Eastern Conference. The sixth-place New York Islanders have a one-point edge over Ottawa while the seventh-place New York Rangers hold the tiebreaker.
Pittsburgh opened the scoring at 6:15 of the first period as Morrow made a pass from the left faceoff circle to Jeffrey, who fired the puck past Anderson from the top of the slot. Iginla doubled the advantage 4:13 later, when he received a feed from behind the net by Morrow and beat Anderson from the doorstep.
Wiercioch halved the deficit during a power play, one-timing a shot from above the slot past Vokoun at 7:18 of the third. But Matt Cooke set up Kennedy in front with 2:34 remaining to restore Pittsburgh's two-goal lead.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Vokoun became the 24th goaltender in NHL history to appear in 700 games and the 28th to reach the 300-win plateau. ... Morrow's multi-point performance was his third in four contests. ... Ottawa RW Chris Neil challenged Cooke to a fight less than two minutes into the game, but the Pittsburgh LW declined. Cooke cut Senators D Erik Karlsson's Achilles tendon with his skate when the teams played on Feb. 13.
