Lightning 6, Senators 4: Ryan Malone's second goal of the third period snapped a tie with 7:02 remaining as Tampa Bay opened its season-high five-game homestand by handing Ottawa its first loss.
Steven Stamkos collected a goal and two assists and defensemen Victor Hedman and Matt Carle netted their first goals of the season. Tom Pyatt added an empty-net goal and Anders Lindback turned aside 32 shots for the Lightning.
Jason Spezza and reigning Norris Trophy winner Erik Karlsson scored 15 seconds apart to highlight the Senators' four-goal second period. Kyle Turris added his fourth goal of the season and Erik Condra also tallied for the Senators, who defeated Tampa Bay in all four outings in 2011-12.
After deflecting defenseman Sami Salo's shot from the point to tie the game at 3:39 of the third period, Malone gave Tampa Bay a 5-4 lead by settling the puck following Vincent Lecavalier's wide shot and beating Ben Bishop from the left faceoff circle.
Pyatt's empty-net goal sealed the win for Tampa Bay, which has outscored its opponents by an 11-1 margin in the third period.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Prior to the contest, Lecavalier was honored with a silver stick in a ceremony to commemorate him playing in his 1,000th NHL game on Monday.
