Steve Ott scored a power-play goal and Kari Lehtonen made 23 saves for his third shutout of the season as the Dallas Stars recorded a 3-0 home victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday.
All-Star Loui Eriksson and captain Brenden Morrow each added an empty-net goal in the final minute for the Stars, who moved within two points of eighth-place Chicago in the Western Conference with three games remaining.
Dallas got on the board five minutes into the contest. During a power play, All-Star Brad Richards unleashed a shot from above the slot that Ott tipped past Mathieu Garon for his 12th goal of the season.
It was all the offensive support needed by Lehtonen, who turned aside 10 shots in the first period, five in the second and eight in the third for his 17th career shutout.
Columbus thought it tied the game with 4:43 remaining in the third period, but the apparent goal was waved off due to goaltender inteference by Derek Dorsett.
Garon made 27 saves for the Blue Jackets, who have lost four games in a row and 17 of 20.
