Hunter Dozier homered to lead off the 10th inning, and the visiting Kansas City Royals posted a 4-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday afternoon in a game that featured a benches-clearing melee.

After his RBI single in the seventh gave Kansas City a 3-2 lead, Dozier launched a 2-0 inside fastball from Nate Jones (0-1) over the wall in left field for his fifth homer of the season.

Chicago's Tim Anderson punctuated his two-run homer off Kansas City starter Brad Keller in the fourth inning by emphatically tossing his bat, a decision that may have led to fireworks in his next at-bat.

Keller drilled Anderson in the backside on the first pitch to lead off the sixth inning, resulting in both benches and bullpens rushing the field. Keller, Anderson, White Sox manager Rick Renteria and Royals bench coach Dale Sveum were ejected after order was restored.

Dozier's blast made a winner out of Wily Peralta (2-1), who allowed two hits in two scoreless innings. Scott Barlow worked around a two-out walk in the 10th for his first career save with the Royals, who recorded their first road victory of the season and have won four of six overall.

Starting pitcher Lucas Giolito and third baseman Yoan Moncada exited the contest due to injury for the White Sox, who saw their three-game winning streak halted and fell to 3-6 at home this season.

Giolito struck out five through 2 2/3 scoreless innings before exiting with a tight left hamstring, while Moncada was shaken up in the fifth after he was drilled in the left ear with the ball while sliding into second base on a stolen-base attempt. Moncada was replaced by Daniel Palka, who singled in the seventh to snap his 0-for-34 stretch that extended to last season.

Dozier gave Kansas City a 3-2 lead in the seventh inning after sending an 0-1 slider into left field to score Billy Hamilton, but Chicago forged a tie in the eighth after Leury Garcia ripped a single to right to plate James McCann.

The Royals answered Anderson's blast in the fourth with a two-run single in the fifth by Alex Gordon, who plated Martin Maldonado and Chris Owings after catcher McCann failed to hold onto the ball.
