Jesus Sucre tied a career high with three RBIs, Mike Wright recorded his first career save and Brandon Hyde picked up his first managerial win as the Baltimore Orioles held on for a 5-3 victory over the New York Yankees on Saturday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.

Sucre drove in three runs for the fourth time in his career. He also matched a career high by getting three hits for the ninth time.

The backup catcher had hits in his last three at-bats.

He singled to open the sixth off James Paxton (0-1) and scored the tying run on a base hit by Dwight Smith Jr.

After Richie Martin scored the tiebreaking run on a throwing error by catcher Gary Sanchez in the sixth, Sucre made it 3-1 with a long single to deep right field in the seventh off Chad Green.

Following a throwing error by third baseman DJ LeMahieu, Sucre delivered two more insurance runs with a double down the left-field line off Jonathan Holder with one out in the ninth.

After losing his debut 7-2 on Thursday, Hyde employed the "opener strategy" and used five relievers.

Nate Karns began the game as the "opener" and threw 33 pitches in two scoreless innings in his first major league appearance since May 19, 2017, for Kansas City. He loaded the bases with three straight walks in the first inning but started a double play against Miguel Andujar.

Jimmy Yacabonis (1-0) allowed a run and three hits over three innings. Miguel Castro ended the sixth by getting LeMahieu on a double play and pitched two scoreless innings.

Mychal Givens allowed a single but struck out the side in a scoreless eighth. Richard Bleier gave up a leadoff homer to Troy Tulowitzki and exited with two on after allowing a single to Aaron Judge.

Wright struck out Giancarlo Stanton but allowed a bloop single to right-center field by Luke Voit to make it a two-run game. Wright recovered and struck out Andujar to end it.

LeMahieu drove in New York's first run with an RBI single in the fourth.

Paxton took a tough-luck loss, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits in 5 2/3 innings. Paxton threw 82 pitches in his Yankees debut and used his four-seam fastball to get four of his five strikeouts.
