Phillies 10, Braves 5: Marlon Byrd homered, added a pair of RBI singles and matched John Mayberry Jr. by driving in three runs as visiting Philadelphia completed a three-game sweep of Atlanta.
Ryan Howard continued his strong series by plating a pair while also joining Byrd, Wil Nieves, Cesar Hernandez and Domonic Brown with three hits. Chase Utley added an RBI single and Reid Brignac drew a walk with the bases loaded as the Phillies set a season high with 18 hits en route to posting their seventh win in nine outings.
Evan Gattis belted a two-run homer in the first inning to extend his career-best hitting streak to 17 games, which is the longest active stretch in the majors. Ryan Doumit went deep to lead off the fourth and also had a two-run single for the Braves, who have dropped 10 of their last 15 overall and eight of 10 at home.
Roberto Hernandez (3-5) rebounded from a rocky start to work six innings and pick up his first win since May 4. The 33-year-old Dominican allowed five runs on eight hits and Antonio Bastardo and Ken Giles combined to strike out five to seal the win.
After Atlanta claimed a 4-2 lead in the first, Mayberry's two-run single to left field off Aaron Harang (5-6) highlighted a five-run uprising with two outs in the second. Doumit's second homer of the season trimmed Philadelphia's lead to 8-5 in the fourth before Howard provided insurance with an RBI single in the following frame.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Harang matched a season high by permitting nine runs on 13 hits in five innings to take the loss. He also gave up nine against Miami on April 30. ...
