Josh Hamilton's RBI single and Adrian Beltre's run-scoring double highlighted a three-run seventh inning as the host Texas Rangers came from behind to defeat the visiting Baltimore Orioles 4-2 on Tuesday night.
The Rangers worked two walks against losing pitcher Jim Johnson (5-2) before Hamilton tied the game 2-2 with a two-out single to right field. Elvis Andrus also scored on the play after left fielder Nolan Reimold threw wildly to third base. Beltre followed with his 22nd double.
J.J. Hardy homered to lead off the game and Matt Wieters (three hits) made it 2-0 with a solo blast in the fourth for the Orioles.
Baltimore starter Mitch Atkins, making his first career start after seven relief appearances for the Chicago Cubs in 2009 and 2010, allowed one run and eight hits over six innings. Nelson Cruz hit a two-out RBI single in the sixth before Atkins struck out Mike Napoli to protect the 2-1 lead.
Tommy Hunter (1-0) pitched the seventh and Neftali Feliz worked the ninth for his 17th save.
Michael Young had three hits for the Rangers, leaving him two short of 2,000 for his career.
The Orioles have lost seven of eight.
