K'Andre Miller's tiebreaking goal helped the New York Rangers pull off a rare third-period comeback to beat the visiting Vegas Golden Knights 4-2 on Sunday night, making Jonathan Quick the first American-born goaltender to reach 400 career regular-season victories.
The Rangers stopped a three-game losing streak and improved to 8-3-3 in their past 14. They are 2-20-1 this season when trailing after two periods.
In his fourth attempt, Quick joined Florida's Sergei Bobrovsky and Minnesota's Marc-Andre Fleury as the third active goalie to reach 400 wins. He is the 15th player in NHL history with at least 400 victories. Quick made 34 saves Sunday.
Mika Zibanejad scored to tie game at 2-2 with 14:56 remaining, and then made a pass from behind the net to get the primary assist on the game-winner with 8:17 to play.
J.T. Miller's shot was stopped by Adin Hill with 8:50 left, but the Rangers kept the puck alive and Zibanejad dug it out from behind the net. Zibanejad found K'Andre Miller in the left circle, and the defenseman ripped a shot by Hill's right shoulder and under the crossbar.
Before setting up the game-winner, Zibanejad made two savvy plays to forge the 2-2 tie during a power play. He prevented Jack Eichel from clearing the puck at the right point and then crashed the crease and found the loose puck behind Hill for the tap-in.
Alexis Lafreniere also scored while Artemi Panarin added a power-play goal and collected two assists. J.T. Miller also had two assists in his second game since being acquired from the Vancouver Canucks on Friday.
Eichel notched his second multi-goal game of the season and Hill made 24 saves as the Golden Knights lost their third straight and dropped to 3-7-3 in their past 13 games.
Eichel scored during a power play with 19 seconds left in the first when he used teammate Tomas Hertl as a screen in front and ripped a shot from the right circle inside the right post.
The Rangers evened the contest 1:18 into the second when Lafreniere leaned into a wrist shot and sent the puck into the open right side of the goal.
Vegas regained the lead with 10:44 left when Eichel used Vincent Trocheck as a screen to send a wrister under the New York center's legs and into the middle of the net.
