HORNETS 96, JAZZ 85: Eric Gordon had a team-high 25 points to lead host Charlotte to consecutive victories and potentially derail Utah's playoff hopes.
Gordon, who returned after missing two games with a back injury, was a one-man wrecking crew in the fourth quarter.
With the Hornets leading 86-82 late in the final frame, Gordon dropped eight straight points to spark a 14-0 Charlotte run and put the game away.
The teams were neck-and-neck until midway through the fourth in a contest that featured 17 lead changes.
Paul Millsap, who played despite nursing a sprained right wrist, scored a game-high 27 points for Utah, which was denied a third consecutive victory.
The Hornets have won four of their last six overall.
GAME NOTEBOOK: New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson’s purchase of the Hornets on Friday was the main topic of coach Monty Williams’ pregame interview. ”I bought a subway sandwich today. He spent $300 million,” Williams joked. Williams said Benson’s purchase was a bit of a surprise, but it’s really good for the city and team. ... Utah guard Raja Bell (knee) and forward Jeremy Evans (ankle) didn't play. ... Hornets guard Jarrett Jack (foot) and center Emeka Okafor (knee) didn't play. ... Jazz forward Derrick Favors had a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
