Indians 8, White Sox 1: Ubaldo Jimenez took a shutout into the ninth inning and Carlos Santana went 3-for-4 with two RBIs as visiting Cleveland defeated Chicago for the 11th straight time.
Asdrubal Cabrera and Lonnie Chisenhall homered for the Indians, who have won three straight to remain 1 1/2 games behind Tampa Bay for the second wild card in the American League. Jimenez (12-9) struck out eight and allowed eight hits before leaving after allowing a pair of one-out singles in the ninth.
Josh Phegley finished 3-for-3 with a RBI for the White Sox. Chicago has lost five in a row and 14 of its past 16.
Cabrera hit a two-run home run and Chisenhall added a three-run blast in the five-run fourth as the Indians chased Andre Rienzo (2-2). The 25-year-old right-hander issued four walks and allowed five runs on seven hits over four-plus innings.
Conor Gillaspie had two of the nine hits for the White Sox, who have totaled six runs during their five-game losing streak. Phegley's sacrifice fly broke up the shutout in the ninth.
