Joakim Nordstrom scored 1:57 into overtime Friday to give the Boston Bruins a 2-1 win over the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins.
Nordstrom, in front of the net, deflected a pass from Torey Krug past goaltender Tristan Jarry.
Jake DeBrusk also scored for Boston, which was playing its first home game since Nov. 11 and coming off a 1-1-2 road trip.
Evgeni Malkin scored for Pittsburgh, which is 2-7-3 in its past 12 games.
Jaroslav Halak stopped 36 of 37 Penguins shots.
Jarry made 35 saves. He made his first NHL appearance of the season and the 28th of his career.
Jarry was recalled from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the AHL Thursday when Pittsburgh put goaltender Matt Murray on injured reserve for what the club called a longer-term lower-body injury.
It was the teams' first meeting of the season.
There were no goals and no penalties in the first period.
The game's first penalty was against Boston's David Krejci, who tripped Pittsburgh defenseman Juuso Riikola.
The Penguins capitalized with a power-play goal by Malkin at 6:09 of the second for a 1-0 lead. Malkin, from the top of the right circle, one-timed a pass from Kris Letang just under the crossbar, with Patric Hornqvist providing a screen, for his ninth goal.
That gave Malkin a six-game points streak.
The Bruins tied it at 13:40 of the second. DeBrusk picked up his ninth goal on a one-timer from the top of the left circle that skimmed under Jarry's glove. That gave DeBrusk four goals in four games and six goals in his last eight.
Boston thought it had a go-ahead goal with 2:35 left in the second when David Backes poked at the puck with Jarry covering at the right post. The officials called it not a goal, a ruling that was upheld under review when apparently there was no clear replay that showed whether the puck cleared the goal line.
The Penguins played the third period without Hornqvist, who took a big hit from Boston's Kevan Miller in the second. There was no immediate word on Hornqvist's status.
