Jets 4, Coyotes 3 (SO): Bryan Little opened the scoring in regulation and ended it with the lone shootout goal as host Winnipeg extended its winning streak to a season-high four games.
After two scoreless rounds in the bonus format, Little beat Mike Smith high to the glove side in the third and Ondrej Pavelec denied Arizona captain Shane Doan to clinch the victory. Michael Frolik and All-Star defenseman Dustin Byfuglien also tallied in regulation for the Jets, who have earned at least one point in six straight contests (5-0-1).
Blue-liner Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Lauri Korpikoski and Tobias Rieder scored for the Coyotes, who fell to 0-1-1 on their franchise-record eight-game road trip. Doan notched two assists while Smith stopped 27 shots as Arizona suffered its fifth consecutive loss.
Winnipeg grabbed an early lead as Little converted a cross-slot feed from the right faceoff circle by captain Andrew Ladd during a 2-on-1 rush 4:08 into the contest. The Coyotes pulled even 3 1/2 minutes later, when Doan made a pass from behind the net to Ekman-Larsson, who beat Pavelec (28 saves) with a one-timer from the left faceoff dot.
Frolik received a gift to put the Jets ahead 1:39 into the second period as he scored into a vacant net after Arizona defenseman Connor Murphy inadvertently threw the puck into the crease off a pass from Smith behind the cage. Byfuglien scored off a 2-on-1 midway through the third session to make it 3-1 before the Coyotes rallied with deflections by Korpikoski during a power play with 6:39 remaining and Rieder less than three minutes later.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Ekman-Larsson and Byfuglien each scored their 12th goal, pulling even with Colorado's Erik Johnson for the league lead among defensemen. ... Doan returned to Arizona's lineup after missing two games with a lower-body injury. ... Winnipeg went 2-1-0 in the three-game season series.
