Sophomore guard Quentin Snider scored 16 points to help No. 19 Louisville cruise to a 78-56 victory over Western Kentucky on Saturday in nonconference action at Louisville, Ky.
Senior guard Damion Lee had 15 points and six rebounds and senior guard Trey Lewis scored 15 points on 7-of-11 shooting for the Cardinals (9-1), who never trailed while winning their fourth consecutive game.
Sophomore center Chinanu Onuaku had 10 points and 12 rebounds as Louisville defeated the Hilltoppers for the seventh consecutive time.
Junior guard Fredrick Edmond had 14 points and eight rebounds for Western Kentucky (6-5), which had a two-game winning streak halted. Sophomore forward Justin Johnson scored 10 points for the Hilltoppers, who were just 2 of 18 from 3-point range and 10 of 20 from the free-throw line.
Western Kentucky trailed by 18 points at halftime but carved away at the deficit in the second half. A 9-4 run capped by two free throws from senior guard Aaron Cosby allowed the Hilltoppers to pull within 42-35 with 14:34 left before Louisville again took charge.
Lee converted a 3-point play with 14 minutes left and scored eight points during a 16-3 surge that elevated the Cardinals' lead to 58-38 with 9:23 to play. Louisville's lead topped out at 28 points with 2:33 remaining.
The Cardinals looked sharp early and owned a 10-point lead after a dunk by Onuaku with 6:44 left in the first half. Louisville soon ran off 10 straight points to open up an 18-point lead en route to a 34-16 advantage at the break.
