Iowa State 87, Baylor 82: Tyrus McGee scored 22 points to help the Cyclones pick up a key road victory over the Bears.
Iowa State (18-8, 8-5) shot 54.2 percent from the field, including 39.3 percent from 3-point range. Melvin Ejim had 20 points and 12 rebounds, while Korie Lucious added 16, including four 3-pointers, and Georges Niang chipped in with 15.
Baylor (16-10, 7-6) was led by Pierre Jackson's 30 points — one short of his season high — and eight assists. Cory Jefferson finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
The Bears led early, building a 25-19 lead on Jackson's 3-pointer with 10:22 to go in the half. But the Cyclones went on a 15-6 run, capped by Ejim 3-pointer, to forge a 34-31 advantage that they'd never relinquish.
The lead grew to 11 points in the second half before Baylor rallied to within five with 24 seconds to play. ISU hit 3-of-4 free throws to clinch the victory.
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Cyclones' 11 3-pointers marked the seventh time in the last eight games the team has made 10 or more treys. … After giving up 80 or more points just once in its first 24 games, the Bears have now allowed that many in each of their last two outings, both losses. … Iowa State heads home for a two-game stretch, starting against Texas Tech on Saturday. Baylor will try to end its two-game skid when it travels to face Oklahoma on Saturday.
