Chris Paul hit the go-ahead 3-pointer in overtime after the New Orleans Hornets overcame a 12-point fourth-quarter deficit to notch a 110-105 victory over the host Houston Rockets on Friday.
Paul scored seven of his 11 points in the extra session. He tied the game on a layup with 1:23 remaining and then put New Orleans ahead to stay with a 3-point basket with 41.1 seconds left.
David West added 29 points and nine rebounds for New Orleans (24-16).
Kyle Lowry matched his season-high with 28 points for Houston (17-23), which had a chance to win in regulation, but Lowry missed a jumper at the buzzer.
Jarrett Jack had 23 points and seven assists while Emeka Okafor had 17 points and 15 rebounds for the Hornets.
New Orleans trailed 76-64 entering the final quarter and caught the Rockets at 91 with 1:16 left on two free throws by Okafor.
Trevor Ariza had 14 points and 10 rebounds for New Orleans, which shot 90.3 percent (28-of-31) from the free-throw line. Paul had eight assists and five steals.
Kevin Martin scored 26 points for the Rockets. Luis Scola had 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Shane Battier scored 13 points.
