Dwight Howard had 23 points and 13 rebounds, and the Orlando Magic broke open a close game with 14 unanswered fourth-quarter points to notch a 117-107 victory over the host Dallas Mavericks on Saturday.
Hedu Turkoglu finished with a career-high 17 assists as Orlando (25-12) won its ninth consecutive contest.
The Mavericks trailed 88-87 before Gilbert Arenas’ 3-pointer with 9:12 to play started the decisive 14-0 run that gave Orlando a 15-point lead with 6:05 left. The Magic stretched the lead to 20 points on Turkoglu’s basket moments later.
Jason Richardson had 20 points for Orlando, which had seven players score in double figures. Jameer Nelson had 16 points, Arenas scored 14, while Turkoglu added 13 points and five steals. Brandon Bass and Ryan Anderson scored 11 points apiece.
The Magic made 14 of 32 3-point baskets, with Nelson making four and Richardson hitting three.
DeShawn Stevenson scored a season-high 24 points, including six 3-pointers, for Dallas (26-10). Shawn Marion had 18 points and eight rebounds and Jason Terry had 16 points and nine assists with injured forward Dirk Nowitzki sidelined.
