Chris Paul had 22 points and eight assists, and David West scored 18 points as the New Orleans Hornets recorded a 93-86 victory over the visiting Atlanta Hawks on Sunday.

Emeka Okafor had his fourth consecutive double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds for New Orleans (18-12).

Joe Johnson scored 23 points for Atlanta (19-13) and Marvin Williams added 18 points.

New Orleans led 90-81 before Johnson scored five straight points to pull Atlanta within four with 1:18 left.

Paul responded with a basket with 38 seconds left and hit one of two free throws with 19.7 seconds remaining to make it a three-possession game as New Orleans improved to 13-3 at home.

Trevor Ariza had 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Hornets. New Orleans committed just eight turnovers and held Atlanta to 39.7 shooting from the field.

Josh Smith added 10 points and 12 rebounds for Atlanta.
