J.J. Hickson had 20 points and 11 rebounds and the visiting Cavaliers beat the Pistons 110-101 on Monday in a game featuring a brief fight and double ejection between Detroit’s Charlie Villanueva and Cleveland’s Ryan Hollins.
The two got tangled on a screen with 5:47 left in the game and the Cavs up 11. Villanueva threw the first punch and Hollins retaliated, and both continued grabbing each other’s head and jersey before being separated by coaches and officials.
Villanueva tried charging at the Cavs’ bench on his way to the locker room, then tried getting into the Cleveland locker room minutes later, only to be stopped by security.
Ramon Sessions and Daniel Gibson each had 17 points off the bench for the Cavs (18-63), and Gibson completed a rare five-point play in the third quarter. He made a 3-pointer and was fouled by Richard Hamilton, who was also immediately whistled for a technical. Gibson made both free throws to give the Cavs a 79-72 lead with 2:51 left in the third.
Rodney Stuckey had 29 points and 14 assists and Chris Wilcox had 16 points for the Pistons (29-52).
