Rafael Devers homered among three hits and drove in four runs to lead the Boston Red Sox past the visiting Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 on Wednesday night.

Brock Holt also had three hits as Boston has won two of the first three contests in the four-game series. Eduardo Rodriguez (11-4) earned the victory, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks with four strikeouts.

Teoscar Hernandez homered twice, and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. also went deep for the Blue Jays, who were outhit 14-5.

Trailing 4-2, Toronto had the bases loaded with one out in the seventh inning against Matt Barnes, who struck out pinch hitter Danny Jansen and Eric Sogard to escape the jam.

After the Red Sox left the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh, Gurriel homered with one out in the eighth off Josh Taylor to get the Blue Jays within a run. Taylor then hit a batter and walked another, turning things over to Brandon Workman, who fanned Justin Smoak and Freddy Galvis to maintain the lead.

Devers added needed insurance with an RBI single in the eighth, as Workman returned for the ninth and allowed a two-out RBI single to Gurriel after walking the first two men in the inning. Workman struck out Randal Grichuk for the five-out save -- his fifth.

The Red Sox struck first against Blue Jays starter Aaron Sanchez in the second on a Holt RBI single with two outs. Toronto responded quickly, with Hernandez slugging his first homer on the first pitch of the third.

Devers answered with a leadoff homer in the bottom of the frame and struck again in the fourth on a two-out, two-run double for a 4-1 lead.

Hernandez's second homer in the fifth -- his third blast in his last two games -- made it 4-2.

Sanchez (3-14) went five innings, giving up four runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out four. He lost his 10th straight start and has gone winless in his last 13 decisions and 15 starts dating back to April 27.

The start of the game was delayed 33 minutes by rain.
