Trent Frederic scored goals 34 seconds apart in the third period to lift the visiting Boston Bruins to a 5-2 win against the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday night.
David Pastrnak also scored two goals, Brad Marchand had a goal and an assist and Jeremy Swayman made 27 saves for Bruins, who extended their point streak to 12 games (9-0-3) in the opener of the three-game California trip. Boston's Charlie McAvoy had two assists.
Phillip Danault and Sean Durzi scored and Pheonix Copley made 17 saves for the Kings, who had won three of their previous four, beating the Vegas Golden Knights, Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars.
Copley came into the game with seven straight wins, and he was 9-1-0 since he was recalled from Ontario of the American Hockey League.
Frederic redirected a point shot by defenseman Brandon Carlo to give the Bruins a 3-2 lead at 10:36 of the third period.
He then received a pass from Nick Foligno, who was behind the net, and scored from the slot to make it 4-2 at 11:10.
Pastrnak scored an empty-net goal with 2:27 left to make it 5-2, his 27th of tally the season.
Danault gave the Kings a 1-0 lead with his 13th goal of the season at 16:04 of the first period.
The Bruins tied it 1-1 at 6:26 of the second on Pastrnak's first goal of the night.
Marchand spotted Pastrnak wide open in the high slot, and Pastrnak had room to take a few strides closer to the Los Angeles net and shoot the puck past Copley.
Marchand scored six seconds into a power play to put Boston back ahead 2-1 at 8:47 of the second.
The Bruins won a faceoff in the Los Angeles zone and the puck went back to McAvoy. The Boston defenseman tried to pass the puck into the slot, but it caromed off a Kings player and went to Marchand at the bottom of the right circle. Marchand scored on a one-timer.
Durzi tied it 2-2 at 11:08 of the second.
Durzi's defensive partner, Matt Roy, slid him a pass at the top of the left circle, and he beat Swayman with a one-timer.
The matchup between Copley and Swayman was the first-ever in the NHL between two Alaska-born goaltenders.
