Tanner Jeannot scored twice, including the game-tying goal late in the third period, and Filip Forsberg and Roman Josi each scored in the shootout Saturday afternoon as the host Nashville Predators came back to beat the New York Islanders, 3-2.

Goalie Juuse Saros made 34 saves in regulation and overtime before stopping both Islanders attempts in the shootout for the Predators, who have won three straight.

The Predators trailed 1-0 and 2-1 before Matt Benning, parallel to the net, fired into the crease, where the puck glanced off Jeannot as he battled for position with Ryan Pulock with 8:12 left in regulation.

Forsberg and Josi, the second and third players to take their shots in the shootout, scored as the Predators improved to 7-0-2 in their last nine games against teams coached by the Islanders' Barry Trotz, who was Nashville's first coach and directed the franchise from 1998-99 through 2013-14.

Anthony Beauvillier and Oliver Wahlstrom scored in regulation before being turned back by Saros as the Islanders fell to 3-2-2 on a 13-game season-opening road trip. Goalie Ilya Sorokin recorded 21 saves.

An impressive display of passing set up the Islanders' first power play goal late in the opening period. Mathew Barzal took a pass from Noah Dobson near the blue line, shook Colton Sissons as he moved toward the net and then skated behind the cage unaccompanied after Mattias Ekholm slipped. Barzal passed to Josh Bailey, who accepted the puck and fired a pass to Beauvillier in one motion before Beauvillier beat a falling Saros with a shot beyond his glove with 5:14 left.

Jeannot tied the game 6:54 into the second, when he raced up the right side of the ice before firing a perfectly placed shot past Andy Greene, under leaping teammate Yakov Trenin and under Sorokin's stick arm at the 6:54 mark.

The goal snapped Sorokin's career-long shutout streak at 146 minutes and 54 seconds dating back to Oct. 21, when he gave up an overtime goal to the Columbus Blue Jackets' Patrik Laine in the Islanders' 3-2 loss.

Wahlstrom put the Islanders ahead again in the waning seconds of a power play shortly after the midway point of the period. Brock Nelson sent a backhanded pass across the ice to Wahlstrom, who shuffled the puck before firing a wrister past Benning, who'd gone to one knee, and over Saros' stick arm with 7:56 remaining.
