Oklahoma 85, Louisiana-Monroe 51: Steven Pledger scored 15 points – all on 3-pointers – to lead the Sooners to a convincing win over the visiting Warhawks in the season-opener for both teams.
Transfer Amath M'Baye, the preseason Big 12 Newcomer of the Year, scored 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds in his debut for Oklahoma (1-0) while Andrew Fitzgerald came off the bench with 12 of his own.
Pledger, the top returning scorer in the conference, hit five of his nine 3-point attempts - with four of those coming in the second half. Freshman guard Je'lon Hornbeak added 10 points, five rebounds and five assists in his first collegiate game.
Trailing 11-10 with 12:04 remaining in the first half, the Sooners used a 17-2 run to take a 27-13 lead and were never threatened the rest of the way. The victory was the 35th straight non-conference win for Oklahoma, which has won its last 19 season-opening contests.
Amos Olatayo scored a game-high 21 points to lead Louisiana-Monroe (0-1).
GAME NOTEBOOK: The Sooners’ bench outscored the Louisiana-Monroe reserves 37-14 as Buddy Hield and Tyler Neal added nine points apiece to go with Fitzgerald's 12... Oklahoma outrebounded the Warhawks 45-28. The Sooners are now 5-0 all-time against Louisiana-Monroe, which has lost 16 of its 20 games against members of the Big 12.
