Led by quarterback D'Eriq King and their play-making defense, the No. 10 Miami Hurricanes blanked the host Duke Blue Devils 48-0 on Saturday night in Durham, N.C.

It was the Hurricanes' first shutout of an FBS team since they shut out FIU 35-0 in 2006, and of a Power 5 opponent since they beat Syracuse 59-0 in 2001.

Miami (8-1, 7-1 ACC) dominated despite playing without 15 players following a three-week layoff due to a COVID-19 outbreak within its program. The Canes, however, can no longer reach the ACC championship game after Clemson defeated Virginia Tech.

King completed 16 of 24 passes for 248 yards and threw three touchdown passes without an interception. King also ran for 46 yards and a touchdown on 11 attempts.

The Blue Devils (2-8, 1-8) added five more turnovers to their FBS-worst total of 35, and were shut out for the first time since 2008 when they lost 27-0 to Georgia Tech.

Quarterback Chase Brice fumbled twice, bringing his FBS-high individual turnover total to 19. Brice completed 20 of 25 passes but for only 94 yards.

Miami outgained Duke 220-56 in rushing yards and 524-177 in total yards.

Cam'Ron Harris finished with 96 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries.

Canes running back Jaylan Knighton fumbled on Miami's second offensive play and left the game a short time later with an injury. Duke defensive end Chris Rumph was also carted off late in the fourth quarter with an undisclosed injury.

The Blue Devils opened the second half picking up 28 yards on the ground to drive into Miami territory before Quincy Roche strip-sacked Brice, allowing Corey Flagg to recover. The Canes capitalized when King found Dee Wiggins for a 2-yard touchdown pass to put Miami ahead 28-0.

Later in the third quarter, King found Mike Harley open down the middle for an 89-yard touchdown pass -- the fourth-longest in school history and Miami's longest play of this season.

Roche also recovered a fumble in the first half, and Jaelen Phillips had a sack and a key tackle for loss on fourth down that ended another Duke advance into Miami territory in the second quarter.
