Jay Heath scored 19 points to lead Boston College to a 94-90 home win over Notre Dame Saturday in an ACC contest at Chestnut Hill, Mass.

Playing in its first game under interim head coach Scott Spinelli, Boston College (4-13, 2-9) won for the first time since Jan. 12.

Makai Ashton-Langford and Frederick Scott each came off of the bench to score 18 points, and DeMarr Langford Jr. added 17 points for Boston College.

Prentiss Hubb scored 28 points and Trey Wertz scored 17 points for Notre Dame (9-13, 6-10), which has lost three straight.

With Boston College holding an 86-78 lead, Notre Dame hit back-to-back baskets to make it 86-82 Boston College with 48 seconds remaining.

Heath then made two free throws with 31 seconds left to make it 89-84 Eagles, but a layup by Dane Goodwin pulled Notre Dame within 89-86 with 24 seconds remaining.

A basket by Hubb of Notre Dame cut Boston College's lead to 90-88 with 14 seconds left, but two free throws by Ashton-Langford gave Boston College a 92-88 lead with 11 seconds remaining.

Hubb made another layup with five seconds left, but Boston College all but sealed the game on two made free throws by Langford Jr. with just under five seconds to go that made it 94-90.

Boston College held a 42-35 lead at halftime, and the Eagles stretched their lead to 59-47 with 14:08 remaining.

Notre Dame cut its deficit to 64-58 with 10:55 left, but Boston College answered, restoring its lead to 12 at 74-62 with 6:59 to go.

After Notre Dame cut the Boston College lead to 76-70, the Eagles took an 81-70 lead with 4:04 remaining after a 3-pointer by Ashton-Langford.

Notre Dame didn't go away, shaving its deficit to 83-78 with 2:17 remaining, but a 3-pointer by Heath with 1:51 left put Boston College up 86-78.
