No. 3 Virginia 61, Wake Forest 60: Anthony Gill scored 19 points as the Cavaliers barely survived a furious rally by the visiting Demon Deacons.

Malcolm Brogdon contributed 11 points, nine rebounds, five assists and four steals for Virginia (23-1, 11-1 ACC), which watched a 13-point second-half lead get whittled to one twice in the final minute. Wake Forest's Codi Miller-McIntyre made only 1-of-2 foul shots with 16.5 seconds left with a chance to tie the game and then, after the Demon Deacons rebounded his missed free throw, the junior guard essentially dribbled out the clock, losing the ball to Brogdon right before the final buzzer.

Konstantinos Mitoglou made six 3-pointers en route to 18 points for Wake Forest (12-14, 4-9), while Miller-McIntyre added 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Cornelius Hudson notched 12 points off the Demon Deacons' bench, including 3-of-5 3-pointers as his team shot 10-of-24 from behind the arc but just 12-of-22 from the foul line.

The Cavaliers shot 36.4 percent in the first half - 0-of-4 from 3-point range - and trailed 31-24 at the break after Mitoglou hit three 3-pointers in the final five minutes of the opening session. Virginia opened the second half with a 14-3 run - a burst that started and ended with a 3-pointer by Evan Nolte, with Brogdon and Gill each adding four points during the surge.

Another 3-pointer by Mitoglou got the Demon Deacons within 40-38 before 11 straight points by the Cavaliers seemed to end any hopes of a comeback, although two 3-pointers by Hudson and a pair from Mitoglou drew Wake Forest within 60-59 with 40 seconds left. Gill then made 1-of-2 foul shots to give the Demon Deacons two quality chances at extending the game, only to watch Miller-McIntyre squander both opportunities.
