Washington 68, Washington State 63: C.J. Wilcox scored 18 points and Aziz N’Diaye recorded 14 points and 10 rebounds as the visiting Huskies rallied late after blowing a big first-half lead in the Pac-12 opener for both teams.
Scott Suggs scored six of his 11 points in the final three minutes to lead the comeback by Washington (9-5). Andrew Andrews finished with eight points, converting four free throws in the final 23 seconds.
Mike Ladd scored 16 points to lead Washington State (9-5), which came in riding a four-game winning streak. Brock Motum, who entered the game second in the Pac-12 in scoring at 19.7, scored 11 of his 15 points in the second half for the Cougars.
The Cougars rallied from an early 17-point deficit to take a four-point lead with 5:44 remaining. Washington State maintained a lead until Suggs scored the first of his six consecutive points. His final basket gave the Huskies a 64-61 lead with 1:01 left.
Andrews, a freshman guard, sealed the victory by making four free throws without a miss in the final 23 seconds.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Washington scored the game’s first nine points as the Cougars missed their first seven field-goal attempts. … Motum has scored in double figures in 29 consecutive regular-season games. … When Wilcox gets to the free throw line at least twice in a game this season, the Huskies are 7-1.
