Marshon Brooks helped host Providence turn a close game into a rout.
Brooks had a big second half and the Friars played at a different level over the final 20 minutes to post a 92-57 victory over Central Connecticut on Monday.
Providence (6-1) had a slim 38-37 lead at the half, as Ken Horton scored 13 points for Central Connecticut over the opening 20 minutes to keep things close.
Brooks had nine at the break and then got going.
The Blue Devils (4-2) were within 47-45 with 15:28 to play before Brooks scored five quick points to give the Friars a 52-45 lead. He added another basket and Duke Mondy made a jumper to extend the run to 11-0 and put Providence up 13.
Providence never looked back from there. Brooks ended up pumping in 17 of his 26 points in the second half. The Friars turned 13 second-half turnovers by the Blue Devils into 20 points.
Gerard Coleman scored 14 points, and Mondy added 13 for the Friars.
Horton finished with 15, and Robby Ptacek added 13 for the Blue Devils.
