Clippers 106, Bucks 102: Chris Paul had 27 points and nine assists as Los Angeles held on to beat visiting Milwaukee.
Blake Griffin added 24 points and six rebounds, including a key tip in with five seconds left, while also distributing eight assists for the Clippers. J.J. Redick scored 23 points with the aid of 5-for-8 shooting from beyond the 3-point arc and Jamal Crawford led the reserves with 17 points.
Giannis Antetokounmpo had 18 points, nine rebounds and six assists to lead the Bucks. Jerryd Bayless and Jared Dudley scored 16 points apiece off the bench as the Milwaukee reserves combined for 59 points.
Brandon Knight sank a 3-pointer from the baseline with the shot clock winding down to tie the score at 102 with 1:29 remaining, but those would be the final points for the Bucks. Paul got his own rebound off a missed runner, was fouled and made both free throws and Knight then missed a 21-footer with 30 seconds on the clock, leading to Griffin’s tip in on the other end of the floor.
The Clippers led by as many as eight in the first quarter but most of the second belonged to the Bucks, who surged ahead by nine points before Los Angeles scored the final seven points of the opening half to cut the deficit to 52-50. Milwaukee built its lead back up to nine midway through the third but the Clippers again closed a quarter strong, outscoring the Bucks 10-4 over the final three minutes to pull back within one entering the fourth.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Knight, who came in averaging a team-high 17.9 points, was trying for a career-high five straight games with at least 20 points but he finished with eight. … The Bucks haven’t beat the Clippers in Los Angeles since December 2007. … The Clippers, who came in third in the NBA in 3-point shooting percentage at 38, shot 12-for-26 from beyond the arc.
